Guests have access to two kayaks, perfect for exploring the fjord, only recommended with prior kayaking experience. Snorkelling equipment is also available for those who want to take a peek beneath the crystal-clear waters. We have a TV with access to Netflix, Prime and Disney channels. A basket of knitting and crochet with some basic instruction is always accessible to maximize the hygge feeling.

Hiking: The Horseid Beach Hike is one of Lofoten’s most stunning and remote hikes, leading to Horseidstranda, a secluded white-sand beach surrounded by towering peaks. It’s a moderately challenging trek, perfect for those looking to experience Lofoten’s raw beauty away from the crowds.

Hike Description:

  1. Ferry to Kjerkfjorden: 
    • The hike starts in Kjerkfjorden, which is accessible only by ferry from Reine. The ferry ride takes about 20 minutes and offers incredible fjord views.
  2. The Ascent: 
    • The trail begins with a moderate climb through a rocky valley, gaining about 300 meters in elevation. Expect some muddy and wet sections, especially after rain.
  3. The Mountain Pass: 
    • After the climb, the trail flattens out and offers breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks before descending toward the beach.
  4. Descent to Horseid Beach: 
    • The final stretch leads through a lush, green valley before reaching Horseidstranda, one of Lofoten’s most picturesque beaches. The white sand and turquoise water contrast beautifully with the dramatic mountains.

What to Expect:

  • Seclusion: Horseid Beach is one of Lofoten’s most remote beaches, making it perfect for solitude and nature lovers.
  • Wild Camping: Camping is allowed, but bring all necessary gear as there are no facilities.
  • Variable Weather: The trail can be muddy and slippery, especially after rain. Waterproof hiking boots are highly recommended.
  • Wildlife: You might spot sea eagles, Arctic foxes, and even seals near the shore.

  • Bring food and water, as there are no shops or facilities in Kjerkfjorden or on the trail.

Bunes Beach is one of the most beautiful and remote beaches in the Lofoten Islands, Norway. It is located on the northern coast of Moskenesøya, near the small village of Reine. The hike to Bunes Beach is relatively easy and offers stunning views of fjords, mountains, and the open sea.

How to Get There

  1. Ferry from Reine to Vindstad: The hike starts with a short boat ride (around 10–15 minutes) from Reine to the small settlement of Vindstad. The ferry schedule varies seasonally, so it’s best to check in advance.
  2. Walk from Vindstad to Bunes Beach: From the ferry dock, follow a well-marked gravel road through the village and up a gentle incline. After about 1.5 km, you’ll reach a small pass, where you’ll descend towards the beach.

What to Expect

  • Scenery: Towering mountains, crystal-clear water, white sand, and vast ocean views.
  • Wildlife: You may see sea eagles, seabirds, and even seals.
  • Swimming: The water is cold, but some people still take a dip.
  • Camping: Wild camping is allowed, and Bunes Beach is a popular spot for overnight stays under the midnight sun.
